Richmond Hill Soccer Club’s 2002 Boys, 2001 Boys and 2001 Girls emerged champions of their divisions at our recent Challenge Cup Tournament. Our Raiders made our Club proud as they put on truly spectacular displays throughout the weekend.
Our 2001 Girls, coached by Andre Serero, went undefeated in their three round robin games, impressively without conceding a single goal, and showed great determination in the semi-final to mount a late comeback and eventually win on penalties. They would ride this momentum to the finals and go on to enjoy a hard fought 1-0 victory against a strong Pickering team.
Our 2001 Boys, coached by Alex Pizzitelli, lost only one of their round robin games at the hands of a tough Oshawa Turals side, but showed incredible character in the semi-finals, as they would get their revenge and defeat Oshawa 2-1. They would then go on to take home the championship with a 2-0 victory against Oak Ridges in the final game.
Our 2002 Boys, coached by Diarmuid Salvadori, booked themselves a spot in the semi-finals with a 1-1-1 record in the round robin. Once they reached the semi-finals and finals, our Raiders really started to look impressive. They knocked off Whitby in the semis by a convincing 3-0 score, which set up a rematch against an Oakville side whom they had already lost to earlier in the weekend. Our Boys played a near perfect game and managed to come away with a 3-1 victory.
Congratulations to our teams on these wonderful performances!
