RHSC Partners with English Premier League’s West Bromwich Albion
January 15, 2018
Richmond Hill Soccer Club is proud to announce a new partnership with English Premier League side West Bromwich Albion (WBA).
WBA are one of the oldest clubs in British football, with a rich history of developing players and competing in one of Europe’s top leagues.
“We are thrilled about this new partnership with West Brom,” said Mark Marshall, Technical Director of RHSC. “This gives both our male and female players a new pathway into a professional soccer environment.”
U8 to U17 players from RHSC will be given the opportunity to train with staff from West Brom during a summer camp scheduled for July. There will also be additional opportunities for identification scheduled later in the year for OPDL and Rep players.
In addition, the partnership will offer coaching sessions and educational workshops focusing on how a Premier League team develops programs for its male and female players and programs within communities.
RHSC has been connected to West Brom through The Albion Foundation, which aspires to use the game to make a difference, grow its participants, and connect the club to communities.
“The Albion Foundation is proud to connect our coaches, philosophies and attachment to West Bromwich Albion FC with the Richmond Hill Soccer Club,” said Dave Lawrence, Head of Sport at The Albion Foundation. “We are excited to support the development of players as footballers and people, support the needs of the coaches, and share our years of expertise in community and elite football coaching with boys and girls. We aim to grow enthusiasm and love for the game that we advocate here in the UK.”
This partnership between RHSC and WBA is the first and only such soccer relationship in Canada.
The West Bromwich Albion FC Coaches are coming to Richmond Hill the week of July 8 to July 13.
On Sunday July 8, Head of Sport Dave Lawrence, will give valuable insight to the way a English Premier League operates from the 1st team down to the community programs. He will cover the club’s philosophy and coaching methodology for both their male and female programs. Dave will explain what they are looking for when scouting and identifying male and female players for the club.
The free presentation will include a question and answer session then a Social at the Falcon & Firkin Pub.
The week of July 9 to July 13 our players will have the opportunity to sign up for a two day training camp with the West Bromwich coaches.
