Richmond Hill Soccer Club’s 2001 Girls were silver medalists at the Collingwood United SC Invitational, which was held from May 27th to May 28th.
The team, which is coached by André Serero and Alex Shufman and managed by Mieka Dortmans, played inspired soccer throughout the tournament. The girls put on some terrific performances in the round robin, which included victories against Burlington (4-0), Cambridge (1-0) and SC Toronto (2-1).
Their strong round robin performances, which saw the girls score 7 goals while conceding only twice in four games, meant our Raiders would move on to the finals and get the chance to play for the U16 championship against Waterloo United. In what was an exciting and hard-fought final game, our girls would narrowly be edged by a score of 2-1.
This isn't the first time these girls have had success at this tournament, as last year they came away as champions of the U15 division.
Congratulations to our 2001 Girls!
