For many years Richmond Hill Soccer Club has been a leader in referee development, providing York Region with more officials than any other soccer club. Over the weekend, we continued our committed to being a leader in educating young referees with an on-field training course.
The free course was held on Sunday, June 24th, for all of our Club's newest and youngest referees. It was led by our Head Referee Steven Penkarski, and was broken down into two separate sessions. The first part of the day was a technical review for all of our officials, which also included a question and answer session to address any potential issues they may have faced early on in the season.
The second part of the day consisted of on-field practice sessions, where each referee would take a turn being the lead official in game scenarios. A big thank you to our club’s 2006 Rep boys for helping out with this part of the course!
RHSC is planning to hold more of these training sessions throughout the season and look forward to continuing the development and education of our referees.
