2000 Girls White Finalists at First on the Turf Tournament
Richmond Hill Soccer Club’s 2000 Girls White, coached by Tim Rennie, opened their season on a high-note, finishing as finalists at Guelph Soccer Club’s ‘First on the Turf’ tournament.
The tournament, which was held at Guelph University, saw our Raiders go unbeaten through the group stage, keeping three consecutive clean sheets while scoring a total of 5 goals in victories against Guelph Royals, Saltfleet Hurricanes, and Unionville-Milliken Soccer Club.
The girls then put on a truly dominant team performance in the semifinals, defeating St. Thomas Scorpions 3-0 and booking their spot in the tournament finals. In the finals, our Raiders faced-off against Unionville in what was a rematch of their group stage game. After playing brilliantly and taking a 1-0 lead, our girls conceded a late equalizer and eventually came out on the wrong end of a tight penalty shootout.
Congratulations goes out to our 2000 Girls White on their fantastic performance!
