1999 Girls Finish Top of Their Group at Umbro Showcase
Over the Victoria Day weekend, Richmond Hill Soccer Club’s 1999 OYSL Girls, coached by Joe De Fazio, emerged as winners of their group at the Umbro Invitational College Showcase.
Our Raiders competed in a total of 3 games throughout the weekend, beating both Thunder Bay Chill and Oakridge Hurricanes OYSL by 2-1 scores, before winning their third game 3-0 against Cumberland United OYSL.
This marks the second consecutive year our 99 Girls has topped their group at this prestigious showcase. The Umbro invitational Showcase is recognized as Canada’s top ranked showcase, as it attracts over 175 coaches from American and Canadian universities and colleges.
In total, 9 RHSC players were approached by various U.S. and Canadian schools and are currently in discussions regarding possible scholarships. A special mention goes to Santana Ferreira, Georgia Hogan, Bromwyn Mahon, Ava Montini, Kim Moriarity, Martina Scenna, Caroline Tepelenas, Tori Trimble, and Abby Wroe for being recognized and taking the first step towards the next level.
Congratulations to our 1999 Girls for a great showing over the weekend and demonstrating what RHSC development is all about!
