Subject:      RHSC Update on COVID-19 Pandemic

A week ago today (Friday, March 13, 2020), we released this statement, as Ontario Soccer, in consultation with Canada Soccer, made an announcement to immediately suspend all sanctioned soccer activities in the province of Ontario until further notice due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and the emerging public health crisis.

As promised, RHSC is continuing to monitor the COVID-19 pandemic. RHSC will continue to follow the directions of Ontario Soccer/Canada Soccer, along with Health Canada, York Region Public Health and the City of Richmond Hill. That being said, at this time, all RHSC programs are still suspended until further notice. Additionally, as of right now, the City of Richmond Hill and our Public/Catholic School Boards have cancelled all permits up to and including Sunday, April 5, 2020.

Today Ontario Soccer and League 1 released bulletins that speak directly to the high performance leagues. The Ontario Soccer bulletin informed all that the start of OPDL competition with be postponed due to the health crisis. The League 1 Ontario bulletin, released shortly afterwards, communicated the same decision.

With the fluid nature of this pandemic event, determination of rescheduling or credits for programming will be done at a future time.

We are still working towards the upcoming summer season. We all know how important sport, physical activity and simply human connection is for our kids. However, right now, at this time, we must all play our part to stay home and stay safe.

While we are all currently self-isolated at home, we wanted to provide you with things you can do to stay active, and yet still be able to interact with your community online. Our #RHSCHomeProgram will be released to all Recreational and Competitive players today. On top of this, the #RHSCChallenge will continue each week with new skills for you to partake in – at the end of each week, you will be entered in a draw to win some awesome prizes! Please make sure you follow @rhsoccerclub on FacebookTwitter and Instagram, and send us your videos directly through these platforms.

We understand that this is a difficult time and we thank our players, coaches, parents, match officials, staff and board members for their constant support and understanding. Our main priority is to ensure the health and safety of everyone. We will continue to do our best to keep an open line of communication and provide ongoing updates throughout this pandemic event.

The offices of RHSC are still closed to the public during this period but staff will be available through email or phone to assist where necessary, during the business hours of 9am to 5pm. If you have any further questions, please contact Meaghan MacNair, Marketing & Program Development Coordinator.

Stay safe during this time!
