Richmond Hill Soccer Club’s 2009 Boys OPDL team capped off an outstanding season by capturing the OPDL Trillium Cup Championship, defeating North Mississauga 5–0 at the Zanchin Automotive Soccer Centre. The victory completed a memorable campaign for the Raiders, who also finished first in the Trillium Division to claim the regular-season championship.
The final belonged to Liam Patera, who delivered a remarkable performance by scoring all five goals in the decisive victory. At the other end of the pitch, Fabio Colella recorded a clean sheet to complete a dominant team performance and secure the championship in convincing fashion.
The Raiders’ success was built on an impressive regular season. After narrowly missing out on qualification for the Premier Division, the team responded with a strong campaign in the Trillium Division, finishing first in the standings with a 7-0-1 record and 21 points. Their consistency throughout the season earned them the Trillium Division Regular Season Championship and established them as one of the teams to beat heading into the final.
The 2026 championship appearance also marked the second consecutive year the 2009 Boys had reached the Trillium Cup Final. After falling short in the 2025 final, the Raiders returned with another opportunity to finish their season as champions. Standing in their way was North Mississauga, whom Richmond Hill had narrowly defeated 3–2 in league play on September 26.
When the two sides met again in the final, the Raiders delivered an emphatic performance. Patera’s five-goal effort powered the attack, while Colella and the defensive unit kept North Mississauga off the scoresheet. The result secured a convincing 5–0 victory and ensured Richmond Hill would finish the season with both the regular-season title and the Trillium Cup.
Congratulations to our 2009 Boys OPDL players and coaching staff on an exceptional season and a well-deserved championship. Their achievement reflects the hard work, resilience, and commitment required to turn a strong campaign into a title-winning one. Congratulations, Raiders!
