Richmond Hill Soccer Club is proud to congratulate Sophia Paiva on her commitment to Seneca Polytechnic, where she will continue her academic and soccer career with the Seneca Sting women's soccer program.

A dynamic midfielder and long-time Raider, Sophia will be studying Fitness and Health Promotion while competing under Head Coach Joe Amato. After carefully considering her options, Seneca stood out as the perfect fit for both her athletic and academic aspirations.

"I chose Seneca because it felt like the right fit for me both academically and athletically," said Sophia. "I really liked the environment, the coaching staff, and the vision they have for the program. I felt like it was a place where I could continue to develop as a player while also focusing on my education and future career goals."

Sophia is excited to take the next step in her soccer journey and embrace the challenges that come with competing at the post-secondary level. "I’m most looking forward to competing at a higher level, pushing myself every day, and being part of a competitive team environment," she said. "My goal is to continue improving as a player, contribute to the team’s success, and develop both on and off the field."

Sophia's journey with RHSC began in 2014, starting in House League before progressing through the club's pathway and eventually competing in the Ontario Premier League. Throughout her time at the club, she developed into a talented player and leader while creating lasting friendships and memories.

"Some of my favourite memories were from my early years playing Rep soccer with my teammates and coaches," said Sophia. "The friendships I’ve built and the moments shared on and off the field are definitely things I’ll always remember."

Reflecting on her development, Sophia credits both her coaches and teammates for helping shape the player and person she is today. "My teammates have always held me accountable and pushed me to improve, while my coaches gave me opportunities to perform and the confidence to persevere through challenges," she said. "Without them, I would not be the player and person I am right now."

Sophia also noted that RHSC's competitive environment helped prepare her for the demands of post-secondary soccer. "RHSC taught me the importance of discipline, accountability, and hard work," she explained. "Playing in a competitive environment, such as the OPL, helped me understand what it takes to perform consistently and prepared me for the physical and mental demands of the next level."

Everyone at Richmond Hill Soccer Club would like to congratulate Sophia on this exciting achievement. We are incredibly proud of her commitment, dedication, and growth throughout her soccer journey and look forward to following her success with the Seneca Sting in the years ahead.

Congratulations Sophia, and good luck at Seneca!
